The Best Mama

The Best Mama
Since becoming a mama, I’ve had moments when I’ve thought I’m not a good enough mother and that my children deserve a better mama.

From talking with other mama friends, I know I’m not alone in these thoughts.

We’re constantly judging ourselves and comparing ourselves to other women while ignoring the fact that we’re in different seasons of life and have different talents, skills and interests.

After a recent rough day, I had the thought that my boys would be better off if I was gone and they had a new mama.

But, then it hit me.

No, they would not be better off.

I am their mama!

I am the woman who gave birth to them, who was there the moment they took their first breath, watched them take their first steps, who soothes boo-boos and has changed countless diapers.

I am the best mama for Paxton and Weston.

You are the best mama for your children!

Stop comparing yourself to other mamas and just focus on being the best mama you can be to your child(ren).

Best Mama

*I’m wearing Weston in Boba – this makes dinner prep so much easier. Paxton is wearing his baby dolly in a swaddle blanket that I tied on him!

      1. It's a Boba 3G and I do love it!! They are pricy (around $120 new) but I found mine at an overstock/return/discount store for $75ish and then sold my Ergo to cover the $75! With that said, if you're a big time baby wearer, it's worth every penny of the $120…it's super comfy. I can wear Weston (who is nearly 1/4 of my weight) for long periods of time comfortably.

  1. Rachel, you are a great mom! It shows too, because look at Paxton imitating you carrying a baby on his back. How sweet!

  2. This picture just made me smile!!! My babies are 18, 16, 14 and I too felt the same way when they were very young and I struggled to meet everyone's needs. I came to realize just as you that NO ONE would love them or care for them like me…..their mother!!! Your doing a great job…….

    1. Kimberly, thank you for this comment, it's nice to hear from experienced mamas who can remember back to those little years and remind those of us with littles that these emotions are normal.

  3. Amen! We all feel that way from time to time, but you are so right! My babies are 22, 20, 18 and 16, so it has been a while since they were little. You are the Mama God intended for your boys! Be the best you can be.

  4. Great Post. My babies are 18 and 14 and I am the best Mama for them. I have doubted myself many times, but I love them more then life itself.
